An Eye For An Eye?

On Monday Andrey G. Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, was assassinated in Ankara. He was shot by a man in his early twenties who graduated from the Izmir police academy. He said his actions were for Aleppo and that it should not be forgotten and nor should Syria. Later that night he was killed by Turkish officials.
This assassination could have been sparked by the mass protests that occurred in Turkey only a few days prior where locals were aggravated by Russia’s decision to side with Syria’s government. Regardless, the deed has resulted in humiliation for Turkey due to their lax security. This incident has increased tensions even further between both Russia and Turkey as last year a Russian plane what shot down by Turkey when it strayed into Turkish territory near the Syrian border and did not heed warnings to leave. Russia denied that the plane was in Turkish territory or that it had even been warned.
The assassin’s aim was to bring awareness to the monstrosities that are still occurring in Aleppo. Where President Assad’s forces backed by Moscow have been preventing people stuck in the war zone of Aleppo from leaving. However, several countries including the United States have publicly stated that the actions committed were unjustifiable and that there are other ways to raise awareness.

The world has gone crazy. Dictators and despots kill and terrorize their own citizens with the help of other tyrants. They know that the civilized rule abiding countries won’t interfere in any meaningful way such as assasinating Assad. The time to be nice is long gone. EU and US need to get real tough with Assad Putin and Ayatollah
