On Wednesday more that 120 people were injured and nearly 20 were killed in an attack at the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok. This tourist hotspot is located close to some of the major hotels and malls within Bangkok.
It is still unclear as to who was behind these attacks. Though there was a man caught on CCTV footage who authorities believe is responsible. However to date, no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
One of the theories that was put forward was that this incident was a revenge attack for the forcible deportation to China of Uighur Muslims, a persecuted minority from China who had sought asylum in Thailand. Though nothing has been formally established as yet.
