As the world becomes smaller with people moving between countries it is leading to a coming together of people, cultures and faiths. As migrants assimilate into their new adopted country it throws up a number of issues – especially if you are a teen. For a number of Middle-Eastern teenagers that settle in the West with their families, it is hard to find role models or stars that look like them.
A hashtag has been created on Twitter to address this. It was created by a teenage girl from the Middle East who wants people of Arabic origin to be proud of how they look. The hashtag is called #Thehabibatitag. ‘Habibati’ means my love in Arabic and is used as a term of endearment. This hashtag has been already used about 20,00 times
