Last week at Oregon Community College there was a shooting that killed 9 people. Twenty-six year old Chris Harper Mercer, a student at the college, was responsible for the attacks and killed himself before the police arrived. He was discharged from the US army in 2008, after failing basic training and attended college shortly after. His mother spoke to the press and said that Mercer was suffering from Asperger’s syndrome. However, the problem isn’t illness but the easy access to guns – as President Obama talked about in a very emotional speech. On average, 92 Americans die everyday due to gun deaths and in the last few years more preschoolers have been shot dead than police guards.
